Grand Haven’s Central High School’s boys basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday, as the Phoenix fell to the Wavecrest Warriors, 48-46, at the Auxiliary Gym at Grand Haven High School.

Michale Penland paced Central (6-1 overall) with 23 points, while Jake Lovett added nine and Anthony Perrier scored eight.

Head coach Brent Boerema was also pleased with the play of Jake Maierhauser, who came off the bench and played solid defensively in the paint.
