Michael Warren scored 30 points for Fruitport Calvary Christian on Tuesday, but it was a huge defensive play, and a pair of made free throws, by Mark Carlson that sealed a 50-48 win over Holland Calvary Christian.
With the score tied at 48, Carlson stole the ball from Holland Calvary and raced down the court. He was fouled going for the game-winning layup, and calmly sank both free throws with 2 ½ seconds remaining in the contest.
Warren was hot from the outside as he scored 30 points for the second consecutive game.
As a team, FCC sank 14-of-15 from the free throw line.
Senior center Josh Hatfield didn’t score, but he played outstanding defense and led the team with eight rebounds.
The Eagles have now won seven of their last eight games going into Friday’s contest against West Michigan Lutheran. That game will be played at Davenport College.

“It was a good night for her,” Hart coach Dean Bates said. “She came out and played really good in the first half. It’s a pretty big milestone.”
Nine players scored for WMC, a fact that pleased coach Mike Herny.
“I felt that a lot of people contributed tonight,” Henry said. “It’s good to get other people involved.
“Hart is a pretty solid team,” he added. “They have played against some good teams.”
Hart dropped to 9-6 on the season.
