The heavy snows that blanked West Michigan over the past 24 hours wiped out the prep sports schedule for Thursday night, and will also likely wreak havoc on tonight’s activities as well.

On Thursday, Grand Haven’s only varsity event scheduled was a swimming and diving meet at Rockford, while Spring Lake’s swimmers and divers were scheduled to host Fremont.

Fruitport’s varsity schedule was empty, while Western Michigan Christian postponed its girls basketball games at Tri-Unity Christian.

Tonight, the Buccaneers’ varsity basketball teams are scheduled to play at Rockford, and athletic director Robin Bye said he hopes the games will be played.

“For us, it depends on Rockford,” he said in a text message. “It should clear, and games should go on as scheduled.”

Fruitport athletic director Ken Erny said the Trojans’ varsity boys and girls basketball games at Ludington are also going to be played.

Spring Lake’s varsity boys and girls basketball teams are scheduled to play at Orchard View, and WMC’s boys are scheduled to play at rival Tri-Unity Christian.
