Grand Haven Central High improved its season record to 9-1 on Thursday with a hard-fought 35-30 win over the Allendale Stars at the Allendale Middle School.
The Phoenix struggled to pull away from the Stars as they dealt with foul trouble throughout the contest.
“We had several players who stepped up,” said Phoenix coach Brent Boerema.
Jake Lovett led the Phoenix with 11 points and played outstanding defense. Ryan Kaufman also shined defensively and scored three points, while Alec Osborn contributed four points.
