Western Michigan Christian’s boys basketball team trailed by nine points at halftime, battled back to tie the game at 53-all at the end of regulation, and finished with a thrilling 60-59 win over rival Muskegon Catholic Central on Friday.

Bernard Smith scored a game-high 25 points, including several key baskets in overtime for the Warriors. Smith also ripped down 16 rebounds.

Western Michigan Christian’s varsity girls basketball team cruised to an easy victory over Muskegon Catholic when the teams first met last month.

Catholic Central flipped the script on Friday, scoring a 49-42 win over the Warriors.

WMC trailed 35-25 going into the fourth quarter, then got back to within five points but could never get closer.

With the Alliance League championship on the line, Fruitport Calvary Christian simply fell into too large of an early hole at Wyoming Potter’s House Friday evening.

To the Eagles’ credit, they didn’t quit without a fight.

Potter’s House hit just 6-of-22 from the free throw line, allowing Fruitport Calvary to close to within three points late in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles could claw no closer in their 58-55 setback.
