Members of Spring Lake’s varsity skiing team are being awarded for their fine season on the slopes and for their equally impressive accomplishments in the classroom.

Lakers’ sophomore Bricker Reed earned second team All-State honors in Division 2 in the giant slalom, while the Lakers also had three others earn honorable mention all-state recognition — Harrison Palmer, Nora Reed and Collin Roberts. Bricker Reed placed seventh overall in the giant slalom at the Division 2 state finals at Marquette Mountain on Feb. 25, to earn the all-state recognition.

Spring Lake’s squad also earned another title — that of the top all-academic team in Division 2. The Lakers’ cumulative grade point average of 3.780 ranked No. 1, beating out runner-up Benzie Central’s 3.718.

The squad also includes Mariada Gezon and is coached by Gary Roberts and a staff of other volunteers.
