Abby Cole

Nickname: “It used to be Baby Girl because I was always the youngest person on the team, but that’s not really the case any more. The other teams’ student sections call me Godzilla, Goliath, they chant fee-fi-fo-fum. I don’t care. I think it’s funny. Oh, Stilts is another popular one.”

What’s the most memorable basketball game among your team’s current 49-game winning streak? “Obviously, in the tournament every single game. The quarterfinals last year, the quarterfinals this year, because those are the breaking point games that pushed us to the Breslin. Then I guess the state championship game last year.”

Your biggest strength on the basketball court: “Blocking shots, definitely.”

Your favorite TV show: “Friends.”

What will you miss most about this season? “The team. It’s going to be weird not seeing any of them. Also, Coach K, Coach Katie (Erickson) — we call her the captain — and Coach P (Scott Przystas). We have the best coaching staff in the state, hands down. They’ve helped me out so much in basketball and in life in general.”

Plans for next year: “Going to Michigan to play volleyball. I want to go into physical therapy or sports communications.”

Grace Kendra

Nickname: “Grass. Last year, Cassie (Holwerda) gave us each nicknames. I was Grahs, and it translated into Grass.”

What’s the most memorable basketball game among your team’s current 49-game winning streak? “Last night (the Bucs’ quarterfinals win over Grand Ledge). It just feels good to be a part of it. Last year, actually being on the team was great, but this year being on the court is really exciting.”

Your biggest strength on the basketball court: “At the beginning of the season, I was shooting 3’s well, but not so much now. I like offense, taking care of the basketball, trying to get to the basket.”

What’s your favorite TV show: “Saturday Night Live.”

What will you miss most about this season? “This year there’s just a different feeling. We’re more of a family. Everyone is so close. IF we had to grab a partner for something, I wouldn’t hesitate to ask anyone. We’re just so close. I love them all.”

Plans for next year: “I’m not sure where I’m going to college, but I will go for track. I’m looking at either Grand Valley or Michigan State.”

Angie Schultz

Nickname: “I don’t really have one.”

What’s the most memorable basketball game among your team’s current 49-game winning streak? “Last year’s state championship game, for sure. The fact that we were down by so much and just kept pushing and came back to win.”

Your biggest strength on the basketball court: “Swinging the ball, getting it around fast. And sometimes when my shot’s on, I can shoot 3’s.”

Favorite TV Show: “America’s Funniest Home Videos”

What will you miss most about this season? “In general, coming to practice every day. We all have fun with each other. Our school’s really big, so we don’t see each other that much during the day, but we always see each other after school at practice.”

Plans for next year: “I’m going to Muskegon Community College for my first two years. I want to go into the nursing program.”

Courtney Springer

Nickname: “Caht. Last year at this time, we all made up nicknames, and mine just kind of stuck.”

What’s the most memorable basketball game among your team’s current 49-game winning streak? “The state championship game, for sure. Also, this year, when we played without Abby (against Hudsonville). A lot of people doubted us, but we stepped up and got the win.”

Your biggest strength on the basketball court: “I’m more of a defensive player. If Hannah gets in foul trouble, or if someone else is hitting shots, I go in and guard their top player.”

Favorite TV show: “Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars”

What will you miss most about this season? “Going to Notre Dame camp, having our deep talks, getting a ton of junk food and hanging out in the hotel rooms, all the summer stuff. I’m going to miss that.”

Plans for next year: “I’m going to Michigan State. I’ll probably play some club sports. I want to go into the medical field.”

Hannah Wilkerson

Nickname: “Wilx”

What’s the most memorable basketball game among your team’s current 49-game winning streak? “Obviously, the state championship game, and when we played East Lansing last year in double overtime. All the big tournament games.”

Your biggest strength on the basketball court: “I like the open court, fast breaks, with one girl in front of me and the basket.”

Favorite TV show: “Pretty Little Liars”

What will you miss most about this season? “Dumb things, like today, we were waiting to watch film and we were just being dumb, lying on the floor pretending to be secret agents. And since I’ve been here, we’ve only lost one game. Winning helps.”

Plans for next year: “I’m going to Ferris State to play basketball. I’m thinking of going into pharmacy.”
