Grand Haven’s varsity girls soccer team put a smile on the face of longtime coach Cor Damhuis during Wednesday’s dominating 4-0 win at Holland Christian.
“The girls looked the best I’ve seen them in a long time,” said Damhuis, whose team is off to a 2-0-1 start to the season. “They were very aggressive to the ball, they found each other in the passing, and they were working hard off the ball. It looked good tonight. I was very impressed having just one practice after Spring Break.”
The Bucs outshot the Maroons, 23-1, with Lydia Weyakmp firing eight shots toward the Holland Christian goal. She scored once and assisted on another.
WARRIORS FALL TO ROCKETS
Western Michigan Christian scored the first goal and the last goal Wednesday at Reeths-Puffer, but the Rockets scored three in between for a 3-2 win over the Warriors.
WMC freshman Jessica Kinnucan found the back of the net 12 minutes into the game off a pass from Alexys Riksen.
