Grand Haven’s varsity girls lacrosse team suffered a heartbreaking 18-16 loss in double overtime at Grand Rapids Northview on Monday.
The Buccaneers (2-1) received six goals and an assist from Casey Davis, while Claire Reenders added four goals and an assist.
Hillary Land, Savannah Albright and Courtney Hylok each scored a pair of goals for the Bucs.
Hylok added nine ground balls, while Davis and Land each had five.
Stephanie Symas made 14 saves on 32 shots faced in goal for the Bucs.
SL GOLF OPENS WITH WIN
Spring Lake’s opening competition on the golf course was a success.
Senior Henry McGannon finished with an impressive round of 35, leading the Lakers to victory in a tri-meet against Muskegon Catholic Central and Ravenna. The Lakers totaled a team score of 167, the Crusaders had a 200 and Ravenna carded a 204.
Bricker Reed and Harrison Swanson each added a 43 for Spring Lake, and Ben Blamer shot a 46.
Weather permitting, the Lakers will travel to the Tri-County Jamboree on Wednesday, and then compete in the Hart Invitational on Thursday.
WMC SOCCER TOPS N. MUSKEGON
Host Western Michigan Christian’s varsity girls soccer team moved its season mark to 2-1-1 Monday with a 3-0 win over North Muskegon.
Sophomore Alexys Riksen got the Lady Warriors on the board first, scoring off an assist from Mykayla Denison 15 minutes into the game.
