Spring Lake’s varsity boys lacrosse team is riding high on a three-game winning streak after Tuesday’s 7-3 win over Grand Rapids Catholic Centra.
Jack McKeough had three goals and an assist for the Lakers, while Collin Betten and Collin Roberts each scored twice.
Michael Tomaszczyk added an assist for the Lakers, who are now 5-2 on the year.
Jackson Falkowski, Gabe Giddings, Cory Stratz, Jared Marod and Cadan Kleinheksel led the way on defense for the Lakers.
“We are seeing the field and moving the ball with precision and accuracy,” coach Doug Sharp said.
Over the weekend, the Lakers scored a pair of one-goal victories, beating Traverse City Central, 6-5, and Petoskey, 7-6.
Against Central, McKeough and Harrison Palmer each scored twice, while Kleinheksel and Roberts added single goals. Dan Zwart and Drew Carey combined to earn the win in goal.
McKeough poured in four more goals against Petoskey, while Palmer, Betten and Tomaszczyk each added single goals.
Last week Thursday, Spring Lake suffered a 10-4 loss to West Ottawa.
Betten, Palmer, Chase Slagboom and McKeough scored the Lakers’ goals. Carey made 13 saves and Zwart stopped seven shots in goal.
The Lakers are scheduled to take on Comstock Park on Thursday.
BUCS EDGE NORTHVIEW
Grand Haven trailed Grand Rapids Northview 2-1 in the fourth quarter before battling back for a 4-2 victory at Lakeshore Middle School on Tuesday.
Jeff Olson tied the game at 1-1 early in the fourth, but Northview reclaimed the lead minutes later.
In the final five minutes, the Buccaneers received goals from Jake Vieau, Jared Van Oordt and Trevor McNamara to pull out the 4-2 win and remain unbeaten on the season.
Junior Varsity: Grand Haven topped Northview, 7-3.
