All four area varsity girls basketball teams earned academic all-state honors, which were recently revealed by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan.
Spring Lake led the way with an impressive second-place finish in Class B, thanks to the Lakers’ cumulative grade point average of 3.820. They narrowly missed out on the top spot, which went to Reed City and its 3.832 GPA. Spring Lake, which is coached by Rich Hyde, was also second last year.
Earning honorable mention was Grand Haven (3.60 GPA) and Fruitport (3.487) in Class A, and Western Michigan Christian in Class C (3.715).
The Bucs proved they could get it done in both the classroom and on the court, as they completed a perfect 28-0 season and the program’s second-straight Class A state championship.
