The Spring Lake Yacht Club will host a Community Open House on Saturday, April 27 from 5-9 p.m.

The event includes burgers and hot dogs on the grill, as well as plenty of other food.

Everyone — sailors and non-sailors alike — is welcome to visit the club and see what types of opportunities it offers. The free family-friendly event is a chance to meet club members and will feature free tours of the facility.

“We are a community resource and we hope people come out and experience our friendly, outgoing hospitality and all our affordable memberships have to offer,” said Michelle Tanner, SLYC Membership Chair. “With annual due rates as low as $340 for an entire family, and only $190 for a single age 21 to 30, and no initiation fee, it’s a real bargain when you consider all you get in return. It’s like having your own picnic and beach area to use anytime and it’s all right here in your own backyard.”

Benefits of membership include season-long weekend races for various sailboat classes from Mothers Day through September; sailing classes; casual social activities; a sandy swimming beach and children’s play area; weekend lunch concessions; Thursday night family picnics; great views of Spring Lake from the huge deck; boat moorings and winch/crane access; a clubhouse with many amenities; and reduced rental rates for private events.

The SLYC is located at 17500 W. Spring Lake Rd.
