WMC golf in middle of the pack at GMAA

Mona Shores won Wednesday’s Greater Muskegon Athletic Association city golf meet at Stonegate Golf Club.

The Sailors, led by Mr. Golf candidate Reed Hyrnewich, shot a team total of 1-over-par 289 with all four golfers under 80.

Hyrnewich carded a 5-under-par 67.

Western Michigan Christian finished in fifth place out of the 10 schools with a 382.

WMC’s Alec Breit was fifth overall with a 78. Noah Wildeman shot a 94, John Larson 98, Devon Kitchen 112 and Marc Boersema 113 for the Warriors.


Western Michigan Christian tied host Fruitport in tennis action on Wednedsay, 4-4.

WMC's Rachel Bruinsma and Lexi Beyers handily won their singles matches.  The Lady Warriors’ No. 2 doubles pair of Kennedy Lankhorst and Julianna Carter won their match; while WMC's  No. 3 doubles team of Bailey Mines and Hannah Erdman played a hard-fought three-set match to win.

"I'm beginning to notice some of our new players showing improvement as the season progresses," WMC coach Ron Maycroft said.
