SL tennis competing in D-3 state meet today

The Lakers’ girls tennis team has already put together a fantastic season, highlighted by a Lakes Eight Conference title and a Division 3 regional crown.

Spring Lake will now attempt to add to its list of accomplishments at the Division 3 state meet, which begins today in Holland.

Despite its outstanding season, the Lakers weren’t granted any seeds.

At No. 1 singles, Lenka Pousova will face Ashleigh Reinbold of Charlotte in the opening round. The winner gets the No. 2 seed, Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s Sydney Liggins.

At Second singles, the Lakers’ Roxane Strobel received a first-round bye. She’ll face Trenton’s Brittany Vinca in the second round.

Amanda Twu also received a bye at No. 3 singles. She opens with Brittany Zuidema of Grand Rapids South Christian.

Meryn Campbell takes on Keely Cruz of Battle Creek Harper Creek in the opening round at fourth singles. The winner gets to face Sarah Lipworth of Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood, the top seed.

In doubles action, the Lakers’ Madison Khem and Faith Lee received a first-round bye and will face Edwardsburg’s Kinzie Hahn and Madison Hatkevich in the second round at No. 1.

At No. 2, Stephanie Sabo and Jori Henderson received a bye and will meet South Christian’s Anne Lotteman and Brittany Jansen in the second round.

Maddie Parker and Audrie Dalman will meet Samantha Price and Tiffany Yoo of Detroit Country Day at third doubles, while at No. 4, Rachel Briegel and Megan Oostindie received a bye. They’ll take on Kirsten Murphy and Emma Moore of Battle Creek Harper Creek.
