Spring Lake's varsity girls soccer team saw the most successful season in program history come to a painful end at the hands of Gull Lake on Wednesday evening.

The Blue Devils scored the game's lone goal with 4:41 remaining in the first of two 10-minute overtime sessions, when midfielder Kendy Sosnoski fired a 40-yard shot that snuck in over the outstretched hands of goalie Ayna Gordon.

Spring Lake, which won its first-ever regional championship last week, finishes its season with a 19-3 record.

"It hurts," coach Jeremy Thelen said. "But they gave it everything they had."
