The first Tri-Cities Kiwanis Fishing Tournament was held on July 11 to support Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

The outing was a rousing success as more than $30,000 was presented to the hospital to benefit children receiving treatment for catastrophic diseases.

Thirteen local charter boats were sponsored by community supporters, allowing for record catches by the young patients and their fishing partners.

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital has one of the largest programs for children’s cancer and blood disorders in the nation with more than 700 monthly patient visits. The hospital has nearly 200 pediatric physicians who practice in more than 50 pediatric specialties.

More than 7,600 inpatient admissions and 190,000 outpatient admissions take place annually.

Phenomenal job to the local charter captains and those who supported/donated to the cause!
