WMC SOCCER TIES R-P
Western Michigan Christian scored two first half, but surrendered a pair of goals in the second half in a 2-2 tie with Reeths-Puffer on Saturday at Warrior Field.
WMC’s Alex Rop scored off an assist from Chaise Schuiteman 11 minutes into the game. WMC added a second eight minutes later when Rop assisted on a Ben Mast goal.
WMC (3-3-1) held a 14-10 advantage in shots. Warrior keeper Christian Rogers had eight saves.
“This was a good game for both teams for two different halves,” WMC coach David Hulings said. “We played and owned the first half and R-P played and owned the second half.”
The Warriors suffered a pair of key injuries late in the game as defenders Matt VanderPloeg and Tyler Cook both went down.
“I don't expect them back soon but was thankful for the players who stepped in and did what they needed to keep us in the game and even helping us create an attack at the end,” Hulings said.
WMC will take on Covenant Christian on Tuesday.
