Spring Lake swimmers turned in 41 personal-best times at Saturday’s home swimming and diving invitational.
The Lakers placed third at the eight-team meet with 307 points. Byron Center took first with 471 points, followed by Manistee with 313.
“We are extremely pleased with how our girls competed,” Lakers’ coach Penny Zacek said. “We had kind of a brutal week with three meets in five days, so for our girls to get faster as the week went on was quite a feat.
“I was especially pleased with swims from Kaylee Marod, Kelsea Burley, Anna Heyblom, Meghan Burgess, Paige Bruns and Allyson Curtis.”
The Lakers’ Makayla Boyink placed second in the diving competition with 310.2 points, followed by teammate Paige Rubleski in third with 301.05 points.
“Both girls scored higher in this 11-dive meet than on Tuesday, and will get another chance for 11 dives next week at the Holland Aquatic Center,” diving coach Barb Brackett. “Doing these 11-dive meets only helps the girls prepare for regionals and state.”
