Grand Haven’s girls cross country team finished third in the O-K Red Conference championship meet with 77 points on a soggy Riverside Park.
Rockford took first with 34 points, edging Hudsonville by just five points.
The Bucs entered the meet with fourth-place finishes in the previous two league jamborees, but leapfrogged Grandville to finish in a tie for third place overall.
The Bucs’ Claire Borchers was Grand Haven’s lone all-conference honoree as she finished in fourth place overall with a season-best time of 18 minutes, 21 seconds. She becomes the school’s first four-time all-conference performer since Becca Addison.
Roxy Glasser placed 14th with a time of 19:27, while Malea Teerman had a season-best time of 19:44 and Hannah Kenny broke the 20-minute mark for the first time this fall at 19:59.
Grand Haven’s boys placed fifth at Thursday’s jamboree and finished sixth in the final season standings.
Turner Sale earned honorable-mention all-conference, placing 13th with a personal-best time of 16:44. Joe Sherman ran a strong race, coming in with a personal-best time of 16:54. Zach Duff finished in 17:13, while Andrew Tafelski (17:19), John Miles (17:26) and Brent Peterson (17:26) also ran well for the Bucs.
The Division 1 regional meet will be held at next Saturday at Portage.
