The Grand Haven volleyball team won on the road at Grandville Thursday night, 25-15, 25-13, 25-21.
“We played really well tonight,” head coach Aaron Smaka said. “We passed the best we had all year. Krysteena Davis had a great night (15 kills). Taylor Craymer (13 kills, seven digs) and Emily Lachmann (21 digs) just did and out standing job of passing and serve/receive tonight.
“We just went in and took care of business. They had their pink out tonight. Our kids just responded well, and we really took care of the ball in serve/receive. So that gives Jami (Hogeboom) a lot of options.
Hogeboom had 42 assists on the evening.
Lakers go undefeated at tri-match
The Spring Lake volleyball team went undefeated at the Sparta tri-match Thursday night.
The Lakers defeated both White Cloud (25-16, 25-20), and host-Sparta (25-17, 25-21).
“Our passing was much better tonight in serve receive and defense,” said coach Sarah Bulthuis. “Defensively as a team we kept the ball in play and had many saves. Libero senior Rachel Pennington led the team with 28 digs. She is playing really well and covers a lot of territory. She also a very consistent server (Pennington had nine serving points Thursday).
“This was a good night leading into the conference tournament on Saturday. We beat two good teams.”
