With a 5-2 record, the Grand Haven volleyball team is tied with Hudsonville and Rockford atop the O-K Red Conference.
The Buccaneers will meet both squads on Saturday — the last day of O-K Red action. Play begins at 9 a.m. at Grandville High School.
Grand Haven kept itself in the race Thursday night by going 2-0 against their league rivals.
But it wasn’t easy — the talented Bucs showed their resilience in beating both East Kentwood (25-23, 25-11, 17-25, 24-26, 15-9) and West Ottawa (20-25, 25-17, 27-29, 25-17, 16-14) in five games.
“I’m proud of our kids for putting us in a position to win the conference on Saturday,” coach Aaron Smaka said.
Jami Hogeboom and Taylor Craymer both displayed their versatility Thursday night. Hogeboom had 71 assists, 15 kills, two aces, 23 digs and nine blocks, while Craymer chipped in with 23 kills, three aces, six blocks and 30 digs.
