2007-08 — Grand Haven 58, Spring Lake 40 This rivalry was renewed amid plenty of fanfare and hype, but the game on the court didn't match that anticipation.
The host Buccaneers took quick control of the game, racing out to a 19-point halftime lead.
The Lakers struggled mightily to score against the bigger Buccaneers, who used their superior size, and the play of all-state guard Austin Harper, to pull away for the victory.
2008-09 — Buccaneers 53, Lakers 36. This game was all Austin Harper. The Buccaneers’ senior point guard finished with 17 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, helping the visiting Bucs race out to a commanding 15-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. Noah Veach added 13 points for the Bucs, and turned in a great defensive effort against Lance Johnson, holding the Lakers’ leading scorer to just six points. Trevor Tidswell led Spring Lake with 12 points
2009-10 — Buccaneers 53, Lakers 38. This game was touted as a matchup of big men as a pair of 6-foot-9 centers — the Bucs’ Nate VanArendonk and the Lakers’ Lucas Holt — battled in the middle. VanArendonk got the better of the individual matchup with 15 points and 12 rebounds to Holt’s 12 points and eight boards. But it was sophomore Alex Eidson who gave the Bucs an unexpected boost as he knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 12 points for the home team.
2010-11 — Buccaneers 54, Lakers 43. Spring Lake looked poised to take its first game in the renewed rivalry, racing out to a 10-3 first-quarter lead. The Bucs bounced back with a big second quarter to lead 13-12 at the half, then pulled away with a 17-10 advantage in the third. Alex Eidson again had a big game for the visiting Bucs, pouring in 13 points, while Marshall Rusco scored 14 and Jordan Hoogerhyde led all scorers with 15. Michael Hankinson and Trevor Tidswell each scored 13 for the Lakers, while sophomore forward Austin Johnson had eight points and 10 rebounds.
2011-12 — Buccaneers 63, Lakers 43. A 21-point first quarter propelled host Grand Haven to its fifth consecutive win over the Lakers. Alex Eidson continued to terrorize the Lakers as he poured in 19 points. Jeremy Lattig, not typically a big scorer, added 17 for the Bucs. Sean Steffel, who played for Spring Lake earlier in his career, added 13 points for Grand Haven. Austin Johnson had 13 points for Spring Lake, and Michael Zietlow scored 10.
2012-13 — Lakers 50, Buccaneers 42. Spring Lake finally got its coveted win over Grand Haven thanks to a huge game by sophomore Kyle Zietlow. Playing because normal starter Erik Johnson was out sick, Zietlow knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line for 15 points. Austin Johnson added 16 points and Adam Clauss scored 13 for Spring Lake. Sean Steffel had another strong game against his former team, pouring in 16 points, while Ty VanWieren added 11. The win marked the first Spring Lake boys basketball victory over Grand Haven since 1987.
