Monday’s prep sports schedule was wiped out by the winter storm that forced schools to close across Michigan, and some of today’s events have already been cancelled as well.

Fruitport athletic director Ken Erny said via e-mail that the Trojans’ scheduld varsity basketball games at Orchard View tonight have been canceled. The boys game will be made up on Saturday, with the junior varsity contest beginning at 4 p.m. and the varsity to follow at 5:30.

No make-up date has been announced for the girls’ contest.

Other games scheduled for tonight include Spring Lake’s boys at home against Ludington and the Lakers’ girls at Ludington.

In addition, Western Michigan Christian’s girls basketball team is slated to host Reeths-Puffer tonight.

Grand Haven and Spring Lake also have swimming and diving events scheduled — the Buccaneers are at Zeeland West and the Lakers at Holland Christian.

With school canceled for the day, it’s unlikey that any of these contests will be held.

On Monday, the Lakers’ girls basketball team was set to play at Shelby, but that game was called off due to the weather. No make-up date has been determined.

The only other varsity event for Monday was the Buccaneers’ bowlers at Rockford. That event was also canceled.
