Fruitport boys win at Montague

The Fruitport boys basketball team won on the road at Montague Tuesday night, 60-54.

Fruitport jumped out to a 12-8 first quarter lead, and went into the break up 27-25.

The Wildcats cut into the Trojans lead once again in the third quarter. Montague outscored Fruitport 13-12, to make it 39-38 heading into the fourth.

Fruitport won the last quarter battle, 21-16, to bring the game to its final.

The Trojans shot 42 percent on the night to the Wildcats’ 39, and forced 22 Montague turnovers.

Point guard Shawn Knox led Fruitport with 14 points, five assists and three steals.

Antonio Flores and Zack Garber each added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Travis Grimm had a well-round effort with seven points, eight rebounds and three assists.
