Trojans’ wrestlers score pair of league wins

Fruitport pins Grant, Ludington to remain unbeaten in league action

Fruitport’s varsity wrestlers scored a pair of Lakes Eight Conference victories on Wednesday.

The Trojans knocked off Grant, 45-27, and dominated Ludington, 68-12, to remain unbeaten in conference action.

Against Grant, the Trojans’ Cameron Butler opened with a pin at 112 pounds, then Andrew Bunda scored an 8-4 decision at 119 points.

Dalton Pope kept things going for Fruitport with a pin at 125.

Tommy Martinez scored a tight 3-0 win over Chase Hicks at 135 pounds, then the Trojans’ Collin Butler won via a pint at 145.

Austin Fialek won by forfeit at 152, only to see Grant win the next two weight classes to close the gap.

Brad Chorny’s tech fall win at 189 pounds got things going again for the Trojans, then Alek Heiss scored a 14-3 major decision at 215 before Chris Hendricks won via a forfeit at heavyweight.

Against Ludington, the Trojans received wins from Cameron Butler, Bailey Lynn, Pope, Levi Six, Martinez, Antonio Stong, Collin Butler, Fialek, Austin Lowe, Chorny, Heiss and Hendricks.
