A group of young West Michigan figure skaters will present “Make a Wish on Ice,” a figure skating exhibition, on Saturday, Feb. 8.

The event, which will take place at Lakeshore Sports Centre, 4470 Airline Road in Muskegon, is $3 for adults and $2 for children.

All proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish Michigan, an organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The skating club’s “Make a Wish on Ice” event is part of the U.S. Figure Skating’s National Skating Month, which promotes the sport to new skaters by increasing awareness of the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Program.

The Muskegon Lakeshore Figure Skating Club offers that program at Lakeshore Sports Centre.

The exhibition is also part of the seventh annual West Michigan Youth Wintersportsfest, which takes place Feb. 6-9. The festival showcases local athletes in a series of sport events and exhibitions open to the public, including luge, ice racing, hockey, figure skating, cross country skiing and a biathlon.

Capturing the excitement and the spirit of the Olympic season, “Make a Wish on Ice,” performers will entertain those in attendance with their athleticism and artistry.

A public skate will follow the event. Admission for public skating is $5, with skate rental available for $2.
