Iyana Brown and Francesca Cerniglia had big games offensively for the Trojans, scoring 20 and 15 points, respectively.

Haylie Hanks was the only other Trojan to score as she added three points.

That was enough for Fruitport (9-4), which held on to beat an Allendale team which has won just once this winter.

"We had a tough time finishing from the start, missing multiple times from point blank range in the first quarter,” said Trojans’ coach Bob Dorman. “But a win is a win seems to be appropriate again as we struggled putting the ball in the basket, but give Allendale credit. They made it tough on us.”

Brown also pulled down 13 rebounds for the Trojans, while Cerniglia had 12 boards.

Allie Huistra led the Falcons (1-13) with 13 points, while Nicole Stratton scored eight.

The Trojans play host to Ludington on Friday.

TROJANS’ BOYS FALL TO PANTHERS

Fruitport was unable to keep pace with high-scoring Comstock Park on Tuesday as the host Panthers knocked off the Trojans, 69-40.

Comstock Park raced out to a 20-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, and led 28-22 at the half. The Panthers then caught fire in the second half, scoring 41 points to pull away for the victory.

Eleven different players scored for Comstock Park, led by Drake Baar and Brayden Olson with 13 points each.

For Fruitport, Luke Brown knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with 14 points, while Travis Grimm also connected on three triples and finished with nine.
