Trojans’ varsity football coach Greg Vargas was thrilled to see three of his players sign letters of intent on Wednesday.
The Trojans’ hulking two-way lineman Chris Hendricks inked his LOI to attend Eastern Michigan University, where he’ll focus his efforts on the offensive side of the ball.
Collin Cribley signed with Grand Valley State University as a punter, while Shawn Knox signed with Concordia University near Ann Arbor.
For Hendricks, Eastern was the best option among half a dozen schools that he seriously considered.
“I wanted to stay in Michigan, and Eastern was the best school that offered me in Michigan,” said Hendricks, who was joined on Wednesday by his parents, Bruce and Lana. “I loved the place. It’s great.”
The Eagles boast a new head coach in Chris Creighton, who has already connected with the players, according to Hendricks.
“He seems great, and all the players believe in him,” added Hendricks, who also considered Florida Atlantic, Southern Illinois, South Dakota and North Dakota State.
“But I liked Eastern more,” he said.
While Wednesday was a big day for prep football players across the country, another noteworthy signing took place at Fruitport as Jordyn Stanberry committed to Chicago State University.
