Isaak Newhouse scored a game-high 11 points, including a pair of key 3-pointers in the third quarter, as the Buccaneers’ boys basketball team won at Grandville, 45-33.
The Bucs led 19-11 at halftime, then used a big third-quarter to build a 38-22 lead.
The win was the second in as many days for the Bucs (7-8, 3-4 O-K Red), who won against Traverse City Central on Monday.
“The third quarter, that was our big quarter,” said Bucs’ coach Steve Hewitt. “We got stuff in transition, and we were able to get into the paint and get to the free throw line.”
Grand Haven was 16-of-22 from the foul line, while Grandville shot just four free throws, making two.
“The free throw difference really stands out,” Hewitt said. “We didn’t handle the ball very well. We turned it over 15 times, so that was disappointing, but the main thing is, in the third, we were attacking the basket.”
