Grand Haven’s boys bowling team knocked off Grandville in a make-up match on Wednesday to boost their hopes of claiming the O-K Red title.
The Buccaneers are 7-1 on the season and are in the midst of the league’s postseason conference matches.
“Post-conference week is now and all teams bowl in the same center on the same days to amass an accumulative total to decide the winner and ultimately the overall conference champion,” explained coach Pat Mitchell.
Teams bowled at Hudsonville on Monday and at Spectrum Lanes, home of Grandville and East Kentwood, on Tuesday. Starlite Lanes is the home of today’s competition, then Rockford hosts Friday’s final meet of the conference season.
The Bucs are excited about the opportunity to bowl at their home lanes today — earlier this year, they turned in a score of 2,350, the best score recorded by any prep team in the state this winter.
The Buccaneers’ girls also won over Grandville on Wednesday, improving to 4-4.
“They played very well in bakers and set their personal-best with a 921,” Mitchell said. “Looking forward, they will be tough next season since they keep getting better.”
