Trojans’ girls pull away to beat Fremont

Fruitport’s girls basketball team broke open a close game with a big second quarter and knocked off Fremont on Thursday, 41-26.

The game was tied at 7-7 entering the second quarter, but the Trojans used a 10-4 run in the second to lead 17-11.

That lead grew to 30-16 at the end of the third quarter.

Francesca Cerniglia led the Trojans with 14 points, while Bre Burns scored nine.

The Trojans are now 12-6 overall and 7-4 in Lakes Eight Conference play heading into tonight’s regular-season finale at Spring Lake.
