Spring Lake’s Nora Reed had a fantastic showing at Monday’s Division 2 state ski meet, held at Nub’s Nob in Harbor Springs.
Reed placed sixth overall in the both the slalom and the giant slalom races.
In the slalom, Reed turned in times of 38.19 seconds and 36.04 seconds for a total effort of 1 minute, 14.23 seconds.
Reed’s giant slalom times were 26.95 and 24.79 seconds for a combined time of 51.73 seconds.
The Lakers’ Taylor Klein was 28th in the slalom with a combined time of 1:20.92. She did not finish her giant slalom run.
Spring Lake’s Bricker Reed also had a fantastic day. He placed 10th in the giant slalom with times of 25.04 and 23.15 for a combined time of 48.19 seconds.
The Lakers’ Collin Roberts took 23rd in the slalom with times of 37.16 and 34.68 seconds for a combined time of 1:11.84.
In the Division 1 finals, at Schuss Mountain in Bellaire, Grand Haven’s Hannah Landman placed 32nd overall in the giant slalom race. Landman turned in runs of 27.18 and 27.53 seconds for a combined time of 54.71 seconds.
“As a junior and this being her first MHSAA finals, she placed very well,” said Buccaneers’ coach Anna Braymer. “We travelled to Schuss early on Sunday to take advantage for a day of practice on the race hill. The race arena in Schuss offers a steep and challenging racecourse.
“Today’s conditions were windblown and icy, with temperatures in the low teens. The entire coaching staff is very proud of Hannah’s accomplishments.”
