Spring Lake’s varsity boys golf team couldn’t keep up with Ludington’s Chase Lakeri.

Lakeri shot a 33, helping the Orioles win Wednesday’s Lakes Eight Conference jamboree at Orchard View.

Ludington finished with 154 strokes. Spring Lake was next with 163, followed by Fremont (169), Orchard View (199), Fruitport (207) and Tri-County (210).

“Their No. 1 beat our No. 1 by nine strokes, and that’s the difference,” said Lakers’ coach George Bitner. “Outside that, it was fairly even.”

The Lakers’ low score was a 39 by Ben Kramer. Brenden Peel shot a 40, followed by Bricker Reed and Ryan Johnson, each with a 42. Tanner Debien carded a 43, while George Nietering shot a 44.

The Lakers will compete in the Ottawa County Invitational at The Meadows Golf Course on Friday.
