Lakers top Packers; Bucs fall to Eagles

HED: Lakers’ tennis powers past Fremont

 

Fremont won at No. 1 singles, but Spring Lake won the remaining seven flights to score a 7-1 victory over the Packers in Lakes Eight Conference tennis action on Wednesday.

The Lakers’ Roxane Stroebel won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles; Erika Kugler toughed out a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3; and Maddie Johnson won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4.

In doubles play, the Lakers, Faith Lee and Jori Henderson won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1. Audrie Dalman and Megan Oostindie nearly swept the Packers, winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2.

Gretta Nyboer and Francie Bailey won by the same score at No. 3, while Suchleen Singh and Megan Boomgard won 6-1, 6-1 at  No. 4.

EAGLES SWEEP BUCS

Grand Haven was no match for a very deep, talented Hudsonville squad as the Eagles soared to an 8-0 win.

“We need to learn from this loss and take away from it what we did well,” said coach Jeremy Case, whose team is now 1-3-1.
