Recently, they both pledged to play college ball at Grace College. That doesn’t mean they’ll be teammates at the next level, however.

Warren, who will graduate from Fruitport Calvary Christian next month, will play at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. Smith, a soon-to-be Western Michigan Christian graduate, will attend Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids.

“Yeah, I’ve had to clear up some confusion with that,” Warren said with a laugh, noting that many people hear Grace and think the two friends will be playing their college ball together.

“Bernard and I have been close friends for a couple years,” Warren added. “We played AAU with a bunch of Muskegon guys and had some great times, great trips to Ohio and Indiana. We’re great friends off the court. We support each other. It’s cool for two small Christian schools being able to have success like this.”

Both local hoops stars tower above the competition at 6-feet, 5-inches tall, and both put up giant numbers as seniors.
