Trevor McNamara scored five goals and added an assist as the Buccaneers’ varsity boys lacrosse team beat rival Spring Lake on Saturday, 8-5.

The contest was the pinnacle of a day-long LAX Fest at Buccaneer Stadium. The event began with lower-level games at 9:30 a.m. and continued on throughout the day.

In the final contest, the visiting Lakers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after one period of play, only to see the Bucs storm back to lead 4-3 at halftime.

The Bucs remained on top 7-5 going into the final quarter, then scored the lone goal of the fourth for the 8-5 victory.

Jared VanOordt scored two goals for the Bucs, while Nate Hentshel added a goal.

Goalie Gabe Liebetreu made seven saves to earn the win in goal.

The Bucs are now 5-2 on the year heading into Tuesday’s game at East Grand Rapids.
