Bucs win regional title after shattering dunk

Grand Haven senior Nate VanArendonk shattered the backboard — and Rockford's dreams of a regional championship — on Wednesday at Grandville High School. With 2 minutes, 37 seconds remaining in the third quarter of the Class A regional finals, Grand Haven's Cam Hewitt tossed the ball in to VanArendonk, who spun to his right, went up and slammed the ball through the rim. As he pulled down on the rim, the glass backboard exploded, showering down chunks of glass onto the floor.

Wind farm proposed for Grand Haven's coast

A Minnesota-based wind project developer has proposed a new plan that would include wind turbines in Lake Michigan a few miles off Grand Haven's shore. "It's an extension of a property up in Mason and Oceana counties," said Steve Warner, CEO of Scandia Wind Offshore LLC.
