Authorities said they’re hoping an abandoned bicycle can help them learn the identity of a person killed in a barn fire.

The fire happened about 5 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph County’s Fabius Township, west of Three Rivers.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reported that the Sheriff’s Department said the body of the victim was found at the scene. It said the victim may have been riding a Royal Union-brand white-and-blue-trimmed off-road bicycle.

Sheriff Brad Balk told WWMT-TV that investigators don’t yet know if the victim is a man or a woman.

The Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with leads to call 269-467-4195.
