What can you learn from opening an owl pellet?

Ottawa County Parks Naturalist Kristen Hintz will teach a program, “Pass the Energy, Please,” at the Ottawa County Parks Nature Education Center at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

This two-hour indoor program is for children in grades 2-5 who will look inside a pellet to identify the contents. By examining owl pellets, participants will learn what owl pellets are, how they are formed and what they can tell us about an owl’s ecosystem.

There is no program fee; however, advance registration is required. For more information or to register, call 616-786-4847.

The Nature Education Center is located at Hemlock Crossing County Park in Port Sheldon Township.
