Man, 83, dies following home fire

Authorities said an 83-year-old man died following a fire at his Oceana County home on Thursday.

The fire in Grant Township was believed to have started when the man was refilling a lighter. The fire destroyed the two-story home.

The Ludington Daily News reported the man was identified as Daniel S. Grubb Sr.

Investigators said Grubb’s wife was able to get out after he alerted her to the fire.

The fire was under investigation.
