Prep hoops roundup: Carmean helps Fruitport girls win in double OT

Amber Carmean poured in a career-high 27 points as Fruitport’s girls basketball team survived a tough non-league game at Comstock Park, winning 68-63 in double-overtime.
Debbie Pekel added 12 points for the Trojans (12-7), while Francesca Cerniglia scored eight and Kaelyn Laufersky added seven.
Carmean drilled five 3-pointers for the Trojans, and also hit 6-of-9 free throws.
Sarah Baar lead Comstock Park (5-14) with 17 points.
The Trojans close out their regular season at Newaygo on Friday, then hosts the Class B district tourney next week.
MONTAGUE MAULS FRUITPORT BOYS
Montague raced out to a 9-0 lead on three consecutive 3-pointers and never looked back in a 69-38 win over visiting Fruitport on Tuesday.
Aaron Viehl and Travis Grim, a sophomore recently pulled up to the varsity squad, each scored 10 points for the Trojans (3-14). Nico Cerniglia chipped in with nine points.
