WMC girls basketball perfect in league play

Double-doubles by Western Michigan Christian’s two junior post players helped the host Warriors score a 62-25 win Thursday over River Valley Conference foe Hudsonville Freedom Christian.

Rachel Bruinsma poured in 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds while classmate Vanessa Eekhoff put in 14 points and corralled 12 rebounds.

WMC, now 12-2 on the season and undefeated in league play, led 15-2 at the first stop, 30-11 at intermission and 54-19 going into the final period.

WMC’s Elyse Ray had eight points and Rayonee Grant added seven. Rachel Karsten had five assists and five steals while Miya Oakes had three steals and three assists, and Julie Merz added three steals.
