WMC hoops: Warriors' girls pull away in 4th; boys fall short

A close game was turned into a rout Friday night as Western Michigan Christian’s varsity girls basketball team outscored host Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian 21-3 in the final quarter on its way to a 55-30 River Valley Conference win.

WMC (15-3, 9-0 River Valley) trailed 12-8 at the first stop, went to the locker room tied 20-20, and led 34-27 going into the final quarter. The Warriors held the Mustangs scoreless in the final quarter until they hit a bucket with 1:47 left in the game.

Rachel Karsten scored a season-high 15 points and dished out four assists while teammate Rayonee Grant also scored her season high of 12 points and had five steals.
