A woman accused of striking a pedestrian with her car in the Upper Peninsula told authorities that she believed she had hit a deer and drove away.
Based on tips, Michigan State Police said the 46-year-old driver was arrested this week, four months after a New Mexico man, Travis McLean, was struck while walking on the shoulder of a highway in Mackinac County’s Brevort Township.
The driver’s name wasn’t released, but she’s from Moran in the Upper Peninsula. She’s due in court in St. Ignace on Dec. 21.
The pedestrian from Albuquerque, N.M., told police that the driver got out of her car, looked at him on the ground and drove away.
