About 30 people spread out at the Grand Haven State Park beach Wednesday evening to pick up trash and other debris littering the beach. The event was conducted in conjunction with the Alliance for the Great Lakes and Barefoot Wines.
Robert of Grand Haven asked, "As a lifelong resident of the city, each day I hear a train going through town. How far north does it go? And who gets all these railcars going through? I'd love to hop the train for my answer, but this is safer."
Michigan is getting $100 million in federal aid to demolish abandoned buildings and fight blight in Detroit and four other cities, Gov. Rick Snyder said Tuesday. Snyder said the U.S. Treasury Department has approved the aid.
