After an 0-4 start to its season, Spring Lake's varsity lacrosse team has caught fire, winning five games in a row. "This is the first time that our varsity squad has had a winning record, so our boys have a lot to be proud of,' said head coach Doug Sharp. The Lakers turned in a strong day of play in two games at Spring Lake Middle School on Saturday, as they defeated Battle Creek Lakeview, 10-1, and Ionia, 17-0.

Fruitport's varsity soccer team has been scoring goals in bunches recently. After a lopsided win over Cedar Springs on Friday, the Trojans rolled again on Monday in an 8-0 rout of Lakes Eight Conference foe Fremont. Jessica Erny and Lauren Hazekamp each scored two goals with an assist against the Packers, while single goals were scored by Sydney Nelson, Tara Champion, Carly Kryfka and Kaelyn Laufersky.
