A Kalamazoo County farmer found a man's bones on his southwestern Michigan property, where they'd been for several years. Authorities said the farmer discovered the human remains Monday night on his land in Brady Township, about 10 miles southeast of Kalamazoo. Undersheriff Pali Matyas told the Kalamazoo Gazette that deputies got a call from the farmer. Authorities were going over the scene Tuesday. State police say the bones were from a man. WOOD-TV reported investigators believe the bones had been at the location 3-5 years.

The Greater Muskegon Jaycees will debut the "Mysteries of Muskegon' tours Oct. 22 and 29. In a partnership with the Lakeshore Museum Center, the Jaycees will deliver the city's mysteries through guided tours of downtown Muskegon. These are racy stories of the city's past with a twist. The walking tours are 45-minutes long, depart every 20 minutes between 5 and 7 p.m. from the Lakeshore Museum Center, and advance registration is encouraged. The cost is $6 per person.

A northeastern Indiana couple, their 1-year-old son and the woman's mother were killed in a fiery head-on crash on a southwestern Michigan highway, police said Monday.

West Michigan is such a pleasant place to live that the furthest horizon for many is where the waters of Lake Michigan meet the sky. But for Newaygo native Christopher Barrett, the horizon is endless. Barrett, 42, has studied in England and worked in Mauritania, India and Nicaragua. He only recently returned from a year in Iraq and now is readying to move to Thailand - where he, his wife and young daughter will live for the next four years. Barrett is an officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), an arm of the U.S. State Department.

Close to 200 spectators turned out Monday for the dedication of the North Bank Trail's phase I - the first leg in a nonmotorized path that will someday connect the Lakeshore to Grand Rapids. "This trail will connect people and places,' said Spring Lake Township Community Development Director Lukas Hill, a key player in the trail's development.

Auditions for Central Park Players' upcoming production of "Seussical: The Musical' will be held tonight and Wednesday at Lakeshore Middle School's auditorium, 900 Cutler St. in Grand Haven. Ages 5-14 will audition between 6 and 7:30 p.m., and ages 15 and older will audition from 7:30-9 p.m. Show dates are Nov. 25-27 and Dec. 2-3.
