Authorities in Grand Rapids said they're preparing to release audio and video recordings today from an ex-convict's shooting spree in which he killed seven people, then himself. On July 7, 34-year-old Rodrick Dantzler fatally shot two former girlfriends, his 12-year-old daughter and four others related to them. He also wounded two people before taking his own life. Grand Rapids Police Chief Kevin Belk said he, Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth and police investigations commander Capt. Jeffrey Hertel will answer questions after releasing the recordings.

Both Spring Lake and Fruitport scored victories over lower-seeded opponents in the opening round of the Lakes Eight Conference boys soccer tournament on Monday. The top-seeded Lakers dispatched of an overmatched Grant squad, 8-0, behind two goals apiece from Tanner Berg and Adam Clauss. Michael Zietlow, Riley Kammeraad and Luke Platz added single goals, as did Nick Mazzole, who netted his first goal of the season.

The Muskegon County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a 20-year old Fruitport Township man following what detectives call an underage drinking party. The party was Friday night east of Muskegon, in the woods off Wolf Lake Road, near Evanston Avenue, police said. The investigation started Saturday morning when Travis Trowbridge was reported missing.

The monthly board meeting for the North Ottawa Rod and Gun Club was not so normal Monday night as a large group of residents from the nearby Cutter Park subdivision showed up to express their concerns after a shooting incident on Thursday left one man injured and several homes damaged. Jeremey Wilder, one of the residents whose home was hit by a bullet earlier this year, read a letter asking the board to completely shut down "all use of the rifle and pistol range until a full investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff is complete."

An Italian appeals court has thrown out Amanda Knox's murder conviction and ordered the young American free after nearly four years in prison for the death of her British roommate. Knox collapsed in tears after the verdict was read out today. In its ruling, the court also cleared Knox's co-defendant, Raffaele Sollecito, of murder.

A report of a possible missing boater on Sunday turned out to be unfounded, according to an official at Coast Guard Station Grand Haven. The Coast Guard was notified about 7:45 p.m. Sunday that there was a boat anchored in the Grand River in the area of 144th Avenue and Mercury Drive, near the Odawa boat launch in Grand Haven Township. The caller reported there was nobody around the boat, the official said.

"Arc of Justice' is the true story of Dr. Ossian Sweet, a black physician who moved his family into an all-white neighborhood in Detroit in 1925. Sweet and others in his home were charged with murder after defending their new home from a mob. Legendary attorney Clarence Darrow was the lawyer for the defense during the pivotal civil rights trial.
