It appears village and Holiday Inn officials have decided to ride tandem on a long-awaited bike path extension. After more than two years of trying to agree on terms of an easement across the hotel parking lot, both hotel and village leaders have expressed a willingness to work together to complete the missing link of the non-motorized path on state land.

The saga of the slips at Mill Point Park will likely be decided once and for all tonight. Village Council is trying to decide whether to leave the floating docks at Mill Point Park and rent them out, leave them at Mill Point for free transient use, or return them upriver to Tanglefoot Park.

Heading to the Kite Festival today? If you're not, then you're missing out. A line of cars from Holland, Muskegon and Grand Rapids directions are converging on the beach as temperatures hit the high 80s Sunday afternoon. The Kite Festival, at Grand Haven State Park, is at least part of the draw. The festival started Saturday and will extend through Sunday.

A circus, concerts and a water-ski show are on the recently announced list of entertainment acts for the 2012 Coast Guard Festival. Coast Guard Festival spokeswoman Madonna Kramer said festival organizers select entertainers by gauging how the audience has responded to performers through the years.

They sat in chairs and wheelchairs in a line across the front of the common room at Robbinswood Assisted Living Center in Grand Haven on Friday. Some sat up straight and proud, others slumped slightly with age. Some sat with stoic expressions, while others smiled and a couple even cried.
