Sgt. Mike Mohr of the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department said 20 young people were in the street fighting, and a second report said weapons were being used.
Deputies and state troopers arrived and broke up the fight. They seized a semiautomatic handgun, a knife and a tire iron. Six adults and two juveniles were arrested, and Mohr said more people could be arrested.
The juvenile who was taken to Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids was treated and released.
Several other people were injured, the sergeant said, but none seriously.
Mecosta is on M-20, about 18 miles east of Big Rapids and 25 miles west of Mt. Pleasant.
