Speeder leads GH officers on high-speed chase

By the time the suspect’s car passed the Van Wagoner Road exit, it was traveling in excess of 120 mph, Boyle said. At that point, the supervising officer called off the pursuit.

“It’s kind of a hard pill to swallow,” Boyle said. “We’re here to catch the bad guys — but when someone flees,” officers have to keep public safety in mind, he said.

The incident is being investigated with the help of the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department and other law agencies, Boyle said. Police were able to obtain a license plate number.

The suspect, once found, will likely face a felony charge of fleeing and eluding, Boyle added.
